Product Description
Human renal proximal tubular epithelial cells (HRPTEpC) play a crucial role in renal function. They reabsorb nearly all of the glucose and amino acids in the glomerular filtrate, while allowing other substances of no nutritional value to be excreted in the urine. HRPTEpC are located near injury sites in a variety of congenital, metabolic, and inflammatory diseases. HRPTEpC can produce inflammatory mediators such as cytokines and chemokines and actively participate in acute inflammatory processes by affecting and directing leukocyte chemotaxis via the production of IL-8 [1, 2]. HRPTEpC express IL-2R alpha and MHC class II antigens during inflammation, after renal transplantation, or in crescentic glomerulonephritis [3]. HRPTEpC culture provides a useful in vitro model for studying the relationship between tubular cells and renal disease.
iXCells Biotechnologies provides high quality HRPTEpC, which are isolated from human kidneys and cryopreserved at P1, with >0.5 million cells in each vial. HRPTEpC express cytokeratin-18, -19 and vimentin. They are negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, and fungi and can further expand in Epithelial Cell Growth Medium (Cat# MD-0041) under the condition suggested by iXCells Biotechnologies.
